Windows Desktop SMS with IE Toolbar from CardBoardFish is a complete desktop text messaging solution. It offers its full range of features through two interfaces; the first is a standalone application, and the second is an optional toolbar for Internet Explorer. Compatible with Windows XP and Vista, IE versions 6 and 7.

- Installation
Download and double-click WindowsDesktopSender.exe to open the installer, and click Next to begin.
Choose where you would like the Windows Desktop Sender to be installed, we recommend the suggested location, and click Next.
Confirm which program shortcuts you would like the installer to create for you, and then click Next.
The installer will ask you if you would like to install the Internet Explorer Toolbar. This option is selected by default and recommended for most users. Click Next to continue.
On the confirmation screen you can review your installation options, and go back and change them if necessary. Click Next to begin installing Windows Desktop Sender on your computer.
The installer will prompt you when it has completed the installation. Click Finish to close the installer. The Windows Desktop Sender is now ready to be configured.
- Configuration
If the Windows Desktop Sender is not already running, open it by navigating to the folder in the start menu (usually 'CardBoardFish\Desktop SMS Sender\Desktop SMS Sender'). Once it has opened, click Tools on the menu bar, and then Options to begin configutation.
Enter your CardBoardFish Personal Account username and password. The Default country code allows you to send messages to mobiles in that country in the local format. For example, code 44, the UK, will allow you to send messages from the Windows Desktop Sender to numbers starting 07 rather than 447.
Select whether or not you would like to receive delivery receipts.
You can now choose if you would like your name, or some other text, or your mobile number to be displayed as the sender of your messages. If you choose 'Mobile Number,' enter your mobile number in the box provided and click 'Submit.' A pin number will be sent to the mobile number you wish to use, and once you have received it, type it into the PIN Number box provided and click 'OK'. If you would like to use a name, click on the 'Name' option and then type in some text of your choice. Click ‘OK’ to close the Options screen. Windows Desktop SMS is now ready for use.
- Sending an SMS
Enter your recipients, separated by commas, up to a maximum of 10. You can also add recipients from your contacts by either typing in the name (separating them by a comma if you are sending to more than one) or selecting the contact from the drop down list. Enter the message you would like to send into the Message box and click 'Send Message' to transmit it.
- Other features
Click 'Tools' on the menu bar of the application to access other features.
View History: This screen will give you a history of all the messages sent from the application, in which you can manage by selecting the message(s) and pressing the 'Delete' button to delete, 'View' to open a message or 'Clear History' to wipe all of your history information from the application.
Manage Contacts: You can add, edit and delete contacts from this screen. To add a contact simply click 'Add' and then enter the appropriate name and number, follow by clicking 'OK'. To edit or delete contacts, select one from the list and click either 'Edit' or ‘Delete.’
Inbox: When a dedicated incoming number, purchasable in your CardBoardFish Personal Account, is verified to the Windows Desktop Sender as described in the Configuration section, received messages are viewed via the Inbox. You can also manage your inbox by selecting the message(s) and pressing the 'Delete' button to delete, 'View' to open a message, 'Reply' to reply to a specific message or 'Clear Inbox' to delete all incoming messages from your applications inbox.
- Using the Internet Explorer Toolbar
The Internet Explorer toolbar resides in the Internet Explorer application. with the toolbar you can send messages directly from your explorer window by typing in a mobile number, contact name or selecting a contact from the drop down list in the 'To:' menu. To send a message to more than one recipient, simply separate the name or number with a comma (,). Next type a message by clicking on the 'Message:' menu and typing in the provided text area, you can clear the written text by clicking the 'Clear' button and send the message by clicking the 'Send' button.
