The Data Coding Scheme tells the mobile handset how to decode an SMS message.

The most common values are listed below.

DCS Value Meaning
0 SMSC Default Alphabet .Often GSM
1 IA5/ASCII but sometimes GSM
3 Latin 1 (ISO-8859-1)
4 Binary
8 Unicode UCS2
